About Air Quality Engineering

Air Quality Engineering was organized as Smokemaster, Inc. in 1973 emphasizing design, development and sales of air cleaners for removal of tobacco smoke.
In 1974 we marked the beginning of our relationship with Honeywell when we agreed to produce commercial air cleaners for this major manufacturer, an agreement that would last 10 years. Shortly thereafter we also began offering industrial air cleaner design and production services to Honeywell.
In 1984 Honeywell's decision to manufacture their own commercial units provided AQE with the opportunity to develop our own worldwide commercial marketing organization. Simultaneously, we purchased Honeywell's industrial air cleaning business and became an important competitor in the industrial air cleaner market. At this time it was clear that a new and more comprehensive name would better reflect our broader product range and we became Air Quality Engineering in 1984.
Our electronic air cleaners offer all modular solid-state components. All of our equipment is designed for low maintenance, energy efficiency and optimal collection efficiency.
Air Quality Engineering has drawn on the past 30 years of experience to manufacture complete systems that provide the most filtration performance, efficiency and capacity for the money. Our experience has led to the unique Coanda airflow pattern increasing the performance of the air cleaner as well as heat distribution of your environment, our patent pending variable voltage technology to increase filtration efficiency and variable speed controls to fit the demands of the moment.

All equipment offered by Air Quality Engineering is designed with the user in mind. As a result, all of our models* include all necessary control circuitry eliminating the need for any additional control circuitry to be purchased like motor starters, thermal protection, electrical disconnects etc. Units come with a molded plug where applicable or pigtailed for 3 phase. Dual voltage motors are pre-wired to your specifications. This translates to additional cost savings to you and easier installations. Before making your purchasing decisions, be sure to find out what is included and what will be required before operating your new equipment. Motor starters, thermal protection and wiring can easily cost in excess of an additional $1000.

Model AQE4000

Airborne contaminants enter the AQE4000 through the optional hood/arm assembly at a rate of 1250 cubic feet of air per minute (cfm) per arm. Heavy particles are propelled into the clean out drawer. Small sub-micron particles are then trapped within the pleats of the four 99.8% efficient cartridge filters. The cleaned air is then discharged through the back of the unit. The cartridge filters are cleaned automatically using a Goyen valve reverse pulse system and a solid state automatic control timer.

The AQE 8000 is self cleaning. Four solenoid valves utilized for reverse pulse cleaning are maintained by a photohelic controller. By simple adjustable presets, the reverse pulse cleaner is scheduled to clean at a desired pressure drop across the filters. The controller offers the option of both on-line and off-line cleaning. Cartridge cleaning is accomplished by the use 3/4" Goyen Valves and sonic nozzles positioned behind the cartridge filters. The specially designed sonic nozzles precisely direct and increase the air velocity into the cartridge filter to reverse pulse the contaminants from the filters.

The MistBuster 500 is an extremely compact, high efficiency machining mist collector designed for being mounted or ducted directly to machine tools. Optional installation accessories include a pedestal stand, machine mount stand, wall mount and ceiling mount kits to maximize versatility. Compact and lightweight, only 71 actual pounds, this unit deliver 500 cfm of high efficiency filtration. Utilizing 4 inches of mechanical impingement with an electrostatic post filter the MistBuster 500 is state of the art in liquid separation, without any disposable filters to purchase. For the ultimate in high efficiency performance, an optional HEPA filter with over 300 square feet of media area is also available.

The MistBuster 500 has significant advantages over competitive products, including:

- High Efficiency on mist & smoke generated from water soluble, synthetic and petroleum based metalworking fluids. (Centrifugal units do not remove any smoke!)

- Economical operation: No throwaway filters that reduce airflow as they clog up. Low energy consumption due to superior multi stage air cleaning technology that has low resistance to airflow.

- Variable speed controller allows for precise control of the airflow. Why draw more mist laden air than is needed out of the machine tool enclosure? The MistBuster is the only machine mount unit currently available in the market place that allows you to control the negative pressure within the machine tool enclosure. This feature saves energy, reduces maintenance and lowers sound levels.

- The air mover within the MistBuster is a very high quality German built motorized impeller. This impeller is more compact and energy efficient than conventional direct drive motors & blowers that are used in other systems.

- Can ship via UPS, which significantly reduces shipping charges.
